Liquid nitrogen process tanks are devices designed to exploit the extreme cold of liquid nitrogen in various cryogenic processes.
They can hold from 100 litres up to 22,000 litres of N₂L, depending on operational requirements.
What are they used for?
These tanks are used for cryogenic treatments on various materials, in particular for:
- Cryogenic paint stripping: The items (such as painted frames) are immersed in the tank: the cold makes the paint brittle, facilitating its complete removal through subsequent mechanical action (e.g. shot blasting).
- Cryogenic separation: technopolymers such as polyurethane, nylon or rubber are embrittled and easily separated from the rigid substrates to which they are applied. This process allows components that would otherwise be disposed of to be recovered and reused.
Other applications:
- Cleaning rubber-coated printing rollers.
- Removal of rubber from anti-vibration mounts, such as motor mounts in cars.
- Cleaning of plastic extruder screws to remove technopolymer during production changes.
